As I’m writing this I am in pajamas I haven’t changed out of and it’s 6 PM, needless to say during this quarantine I’ve been listening to what my body wants and doing exactly that. That’s the first way I have been staying cool. calm, and collected and it’s one I highly recommend. Let’s call it-
– Listening to your body’s intuition
Yes I have a schedule, but I am not super strict with any part of it because life has been virtually been flipped upside down for everyone. If I’m feeling active on a day that I wasn’t supposed to workout I do it, if I feel especially inspired I’ll write for the blog, so on and so forth. This basically means taking advantage of whatever mood you’re in (and throws time batching out the window, see my post on productivity here.) I don’t stick to time batching on the days I don’t feel like it as well because now opposed to my regular life- I have more time than what I know what to do with. Honestly does anyone else feel like this? It’s like I’ve done my entire morning routine and prepped lunch daily by 9 AM on the daily.
I would be the first to say a couple years ago- I will never meditate. But once educating myself about it, I’m so beyond hooked. You don’t have to go all in and crazy at first, think of it more as mindful breathing. For beginners there’s a ton of apps out there, I like Calm and Abide the best.
– Staying Creative
I’ve been taking advantage of my extra free time to paint and draw which is a great self-care for me. Embracing new photography and editing techniques has also been another awesome creative outlet. Even tiktok has kept my creative juices flowing and had me entertained for days at a time LOL follow me here.
– Maintaining my Alone Time
This was in regular life the time during my commute to and from clients at work, when I would go to coffee shops to get work done and so on. I have been able to slightly mimic these moments I value so highly by taking time to myself outside or in my room when there are specific tasks I need to accomplish or a podcast I want to listen to.
– Indulging in my Hobbies
Because now we have the time to do so. I have been enjoying adult coloring books, putting together puzzles, and reading my favorite books.
It’s ok if you feel kinda super weird right now. This time is hard for everyone and it is so so important to take good care of your body and your mind.
